LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FROM WILLIAM MURRELL FISHER NO DATE BUT SUSPECT SAME TIME PERIOD AS THE OTHER TWO LETTERS,  ABOUT 1913.  FISHER, A CLERK AT THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART, IS A  RATHER OBSCURE FIGURE TODAY, BUT WROTE ABOUT THE ARMORY SHOW OF 1913, AND IN STIEGLITZ'S "CAMERA WORK" MAGAZINE IN 1917 REGARDS GEORGIA O'KEEFE.  FISHER WROTE THAT HE HAS KNOWN RUSSMAN FOR 8 OR 10 YEARS AND FOUND HIM A VERY SKILLED ARTIST.
FISHER WAS ALSO MENTIONED IN A LETTER TO ME BY MARGUERITE ZORACH STATING THAT FISHER WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO VISITED WITH SHE AND BILL AT THEIR SUMMER HOME IN CHAPPAQUE, N.Y. IN 1915 WHEN RUSSMANN STAYED  THE SUMMER.

TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION - BOTH 1913 RIGHT -LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FROM FRANCES C. JONES, NAD SECRETARY AND INSTRUCTOR. ATTESTS TO RUSSMANN'S YEARS AT THE ACADEMY AND HIS HARD WORKING HABITS. "WOULD MAKE A FINE TEACHER"
LEFT - FROM EMIL CARLSEN, N.A. ATTESTS TO STUDYING UNDER HIM FOR TWO YEARS "DID EXCELLENT WORK AND IS THOROUGHLY ABLE TO TAKE A POSITION AS TEACHER".
YEARS LATER AS THE DEPRESSION WAS SETTING IN HARD IN 1932, RUSSMANN APPLIED FOR AN OPEN ART TEACHING POSITION AT OHIO UNIVERSITY IN ATHENS. "BUDGET CUTS" WAS THE  REASON GIVEN IN LETTER TO FELIX AS TO WHY HE  COULD NOT BE CONSIDERED. "POSITION WILL NOT BE FILLED."
